Major Updates in Standigger LLM
SEP Tagger
We are excited to introduce SEP Tagger, a new capability in StandiggerLLM designed to help users identify patents that may be relevant to technical standards.
SEP Tagger supports the discovery of relevant hidden and potential Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) by analyzing selected patent claims and claim elements, searching across relevant standards, and tagging each patent to the standards that may be applicable.
What is SEP Tagger?
SEP Tagger helps users quickly understand whether a patent may have relevance to one or more industry standards.
Instead of manually checking patents against multiple standard-setting organizations and technical specifications, SEP Tagger uses the selected claims and claim elements to identify potentially relevant standards and apply standard-based tags to each patent.
This allows users to:
- Discover potential SEP opportunities that may not be obvious through keyword-based searching.
- Prioritize patents for further expert review, claim mapping, or SEP analysis.
- Save time in early-stage SEP screening and portfolio evaluation.
Getting Started with SEP Tagger
When you click on Go find Gold under “SEP Tagger”, the system automatically uses your selected claims and claim elements to begin the process.
The system tags each patent to the respective standards.
Standards Covered in this Version
SEP Tagger currently supports tagging across the following standards and standard-setting domains:
3GPP/ETSI: Standards for 5G, LTE, 4G, etc. (e.g., TS 38.xxx for 5G)
ITU-T: Video Coding standards (e.g., H.265 for HEVC, H.266 for VVC)
Qi: WPC Qi specifications
IEEE: Standards for WLAN (Wi-Fi), like IEEE 802.11.
IETF: Internet protocols related to communication standards.
SAE: Automotive standards (e.g., Jxxx for SAE standards)
JEDEC: JESD technical specifications (JESD79 for DDR memory)
After clicking on the Go find Gold, user will be redirected to Standigger history page.
SEP Tagger Report Status

3. Viewing Results and Reports
Once Report Status changes to ‘SEP Tagging Completed’ User need to click on ‘Show Results’ to open a SEP Tagger Dashboard from History:
